Film set catering in Stoke, carved to order
Crew numbers can be large, and carving feeds a lot of people quickly. Rolls or plates, salads and potatoes make a proper lunch. On the menu are new potatoes, rotisserie chicken and spit-roast lamb, and we are regularly asked to cater unit base lunches and music video days.
Near Stoke, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so hot food at base is a big help. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll tell you exactly what’s in each dish.
What a hog roast costs
Things that change the price:
- Which meats and sides you choose
- Time on site
- Crockery choices
- Travel to Stoke
Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups typically cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.
What we need to know
When you get in touch, please mention:
- What the outdoor space is like

Other occasions in Stoke
A closer look at the menu
Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
For vegans, there’s a vegan burger or sausage in a roll, so nobody misses out.
Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Crunchy coleslaw suits roast pork, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.
Planners, venues and businesses
Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
Looking after everyone
With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
- Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
- Keep vegetarian food labelled
- Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
Name a contact for the day, typically locations or the production office.
Sides make a proper lunch.
What happens on the day
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. In December, daylight in Stoke ends around 4:00pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:25pm.
- Production sends us the location and call times.
- We confirm access and send a price.
- The roast starts early.
- We carve fast on the lunch call.
- We clear our spot.
Getting ready for the day
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
- Measure the narrowest gate or passage
- Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
