Film set catering in West Lavington, slow-roasted on site

If lunch moves, a cooked roast can be held for a while. Name a contact in production and we will adjust. We are often asked to cater commercials and music videos and unit base lunches, serving salads, rotisserie chicken and halloumi skewers.

Near West Lavington, crews may be miles from anywhere to eat, so lunch at base matters. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

How we price a hog roast for the crew

We don’t use a fixed price list, because every shoot is different. The main factors are:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Time on site
  • Numbers

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What to tell us

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many people
  • Allergies we should know about
  • A picture of the cooking area

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.

West Lavington questions

Do you come out to small places like West Lavington?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

How far is West Lavington from London?

Roughly 45 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

How much room do you need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.

Do we need to provide electricity?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.

Can you cater in West Lavington?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, West Lavington and the rest of West Sussex included. Send us the address for a quote.

How do we prepare?

Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. China is available at an extra cost.

The process

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your crew, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. On a winter shoot near West Lavington, the light goes by about 4:00pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. In summer, light lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. The production office sends us the location, dates, numbers and lunch time.
  2. You get a check on access and a quote.
  3. We agree where we set up and when we arrive.

  5. We pack away straight after service.

Planning help

For event organisers in West Lavington

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
  • Keep vegetarian food labelled

We pack away straight after service.

A second meat widens the menu.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a full location caterer, a hog roast is simpler and suits smaller shoots and one-off days. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Why book with us

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
