How we price a hog roast for the crew

Your quote depends on:

  • Distance from us
  • Plates or china
  • The number of people
  • The date and time of year

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, we will need:

  • The address or postcode
  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Any venue rules
  • The date and time of the event

It is easy to get a price: date, place, numbers and serving time. We will reply with a clear price and what’s included. Fill in our quote form.

Film set catering in Witney, carved to order

Whatever the production, we fit around the call sheet. Popular choices include new potatoes, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken, and we are regularly asked to cater long shoot days and location days.

For a shoot in Witney, tell us where base is and how to reach it, and we’ll plan the route. The carving happens right in front of your crew, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

When do you start roasting?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Organising for someone else?

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We will fit in with site rules.

What happens on the day

Service is quick once we start carving: the chef carves and the team serves, with the sides served alongside. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. Because the roast starts early, and in December Witney is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Send us the location, dates and lunch time.
  2. We check access to base and quote.
  3. The roast starts early.
  4. We carve fast on the lunch call.
  5. We pack away straight after.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Send final numbers in good time
