Hog roast for events for Calvert

Hog roast for events in Calvert, slow-roasted on site

Festivals and shows run for hours, and we serve through the agreed hours. Whether it is agricultural and country shows and fundraising events, we will put together a menu of hog roast rolls, apple sauce and halloumi skewers and more.

A fête near Calvert might be on a field with no mains power; we cook on gas, so we do not need mains power. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a burger van, a hog roast feels more special at a traditional fête. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why Calvert hosts choose us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Carved to order by a chef
  • Sides to make it a full meal

FAQs for Calvert

Is Calvert close to London?

Roughly 48 miles from the centre of London.

Do you come out to small places like Calvert?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

What about coeliacs?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

Do you come to Calvert?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, Calvert and the rest of Buckinghamshire included. Send us the address for a quote.

What should we sort out beforehand?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We bring everything else.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

What space does the roaster need?

A flat, open spot outside, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a photo if you are unsure.

What the cooking area needs

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work with a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Room for a queue that does not block paths
  • Flat, firm ground for the roaster
  • Details of what the event requires

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we serve

  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Coleslaw
  • Crackling
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Halloumi skewers (V)

For event organisers in Calvert

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Distance from us
  • Season and day of the week
  • Site access
  • Menu choices and extras

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Getting an accurate quote

To check the date and the space, we will need:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Roughly how many people
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

Planning for dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Share the event’s food safety requirements with us
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Gluten-free rolls can be brought on request
  • Put the menu and allergen information on display

We follow the organiser’s site rules, including vehicle times and pitch layout.

If your event has a theme, tell us.

About the food

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, roasted until golden.

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, balancing the rich, salty pork.

How it works

We arrive hours before you want to eat, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. Your visitors will smell it long before they see it. Late-May events in Calvert have light until about 9:00pm, while at midsummer it’s about 9:25pm. After dark, the stall needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your event date, site and expected numbers.
  2. We check the pitch and any paperwork, then quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

How to get a price

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.
