  • A level pitch
  • A vehicle route onto the pitch

About our hog roast for events in Cubitt Town

Organisers need traders who turn up and serve well. We’re self-contained and leave the pitch tidy. Whether it is charity fundraisers and food and music festivals, we’ll put together a menu of rotisserie chicken, apple sauce and a vegan burger or sausage and more.

London street parties and fairs in Cubitt Town need careful planning around road closures and access. Send us the pitch and timings. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you’re not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Cubitt Town

What if our house in Cubitt Town has no side access?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard typically works. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Can you do a hog roast in Mudchute Park and Farm?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

Do you do fêtes?

We love fêtes. Ask for details.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we will quote.

Can you roast in the rain?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

How big a hog will we need?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

Who serves?

You do not need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons in Cubitt Town are dark by about 3:55pm, so the pitch needs good lighting and a clear route for the queue.

  1. Tell us about the event.
  2. We confirm the pitch and send a price.
  3. The roast starts before the gates open.
  4. We serve as visitors arrive.
  5. We pack down and take our waste.

How to prepare

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a volunteer-run kitchen, a professional hog roast frees up your helpers. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Why us?

  • Carved by our chef in front of your visitors
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some visitors will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

Full catering or machine hire?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Rolls and stuffing usually contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Show allergens at the stall
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Gluten-free rolls can be brought on request
  • Halal isn’t offered

We work to your event plan, including when vehicles can move.

Add coleslaw.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We’ll fit in with site rules.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
