Hog roast for events in Longstock

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Tell us if there’s a vegetarian or vegan focus
  • Tell us what the event asks of traders
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if you expect coeliac visitors

We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting, timed for the gates opening.

Add rotisserie chicken for visitors who don’t eat pork.

Shows and festivals last all day, and we serve through the agreed hours. Whether it’s summer fêtes and food and music festivals, we will put together a menu of crackling, a vegan burger or sausage and halloumi skewers and more.

For a village fête or field event near Longstock, we can cook in a field. Ground and access matter, so tell us about them. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

What affects the price in Longstock

Things that change the price:

  • How many people are eating
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Distance from us
  • Plates or china

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What to tell us

To get the best quote, send us:

  • Rough numbers
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Your date and serving time

Busy weekends book up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Tell us your date and we will check it: send us your details through our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some visitors will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and children generally like it too.

Space, access and the venue

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. The ideal spot has:

  • A level pitch
  • Space for people to queue
  • A safe distance from other traders

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

How it works

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. Late-May events in Longstock have light until about 8:55pm, and midsummer ones until about 9:25pm. Evening festivals need lighting by the stall after that.

  1. Organisers send us the event details.
  2. We check the pitch and paperwork and quote.
  3. The roast starts before the gates open.
  4. We carve to order through the day.
  5. We pack down and take our waste.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about tight access
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Send final numbers in good time

Catered or do it yourself?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Longstock

Can you do a hog roast in Longstock Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first.

How far is Longstock from London?

Roughly 65 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Is there a non-pork option?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

Do you need power on site?

Just a pitch, access and any agreed paperwork. Everything else comes with us.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, for confident cooks. We will explain the details with your quote.

Do you provide china?

We bring plates as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we’ll add it to the quote.

Can you come to our fête?

Yes, fêtes are a natural fit. Send us the details.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with cold food stalls, hot food is popular in any season. Distance is part of the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.
