Hog roast for events in Mop End, carved to order

Festivals and shows run for hours, and we serve through the agreed hours. For horse and dog shows and fun runs and sports events, we’ll put together a menu of a vegan burger or sausage, apple sauce and rotisserie chicken.

Near Mop End, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a hog roast goes down well. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

What a hog roast costs

There’s no fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Numbers
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Time on site
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Common questions in Mop End

How far is Mop End from London?

Roughly 27 miles from the centre of London.

Do you come out to small places like Mop End?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Can a hog roast raise money?

Tell us about the event and how you’d like to raise money, and we’ll suggest options.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

How long does the roast need?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

How much will it be?

Every booking is quoted individually, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your event for a quote.

What if things run late?

Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

How do we prepare?

Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

The process

We roast under cover, so a shower will not spoil the food. Your visitors will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Summer events in Mop End have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, which helps evening trading. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Organisers send us the event details.
  2. We confirm the pitch and send a price.
  3. The roast starts before the gates open.
  4. We serve as visitors arrive.
  5. We leave the pitch clean.

How to prepare

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Let us know about tight access
  • Name a contact for the day

What comes off the roaster

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

A plant-based burger or sausage covers vegans, served in a roll with salads.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and it is carved fresh as people come up.

Full catering or machine hire?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Allergies and dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Halal is not offered
  • Gluten-free rolls can be brought on request
  • Make the stall easy to find

We work to your event plan, including when vehicles can move.

Chicken widens the choice.

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to cold food, hot rolls are welcome whatever the weather. For larger numbers, a hog roast is usually good value, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

What you get with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Planned to your running order
  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork

Take a look at how we price and the cost guide.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
