Hog roast for events near Neatham

Country shows near Neatham suit a hog roast, with fields, crowds and long days. Popular choices include a vegan burger or sausage, apple sauce and hog roast rolls, and we’re often booked for small festivals and fun runs and sports events.

A fête near Neatham might be on a field with no mains power; the roaster runs on gas, so that is fine. The hog is roasted on site at your event, low and slow, for hours, then carved fresh for your visitors.

Neatham events: pitches and permissions

Neatham is about 2 miles north-east of Alton, in Hampshire. We set up the roaster at homes, halls, workplaces and venues in Neatham and the surrounding area. Neatham is one of 683 towns and villages in Hampshire where we cater. You can also see our page for Guildford, about 17 miles away.

For visitors coming by rail, the nearest station is Alton station, about 1.3 miles south-west. If you’re organising a summer fair or sports day for a school such as Andrews' Endowed Church of England Primary School, a hog roast is a crowd-pleaser.

For events in GU34, we just need to know where the roaster can cook. A hog roast compared with other options

Next to volunteers cooking, we take the cooking off your volunteers. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Why book our hog roast in Neatham

  • Carved by our chef in front of your visitors
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

Read our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

What a hog roast costs

Here’s what affects the price:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Access to the cooking area
  • How long the roast and service take

Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

What we need to know

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • The address or postcode
  • Rough numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Send us your date for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Space for people to queue
  • Flat, firm ground for the roaster
  • A vehicle route onto the pitch

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

From the roaster

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Coleslaw
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Crackling
  • Stuffing and apple sauce

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Neatham

Can you come to a school fair in Neatham?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Tell us the date and pitch details.

Is Neatham close to London?

About 43 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do we need to provide electricity?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

DIY machine hire is available. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Do you cover Neatham?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Neatham and Hampshire. Send us the address for a quote.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing generally contains gluten, so check the allergen information.

How it works

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. In December, Neatham is dark by about 4:00pm, so the pitch needs good lighting and a clear route for the queue.

  1. Organisers send us the date, site, numbers and how food will be paid for.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
  5. We pack down, take our waste and leave the pitch clean.
