Hog roast for events in Sundridge, carved to order

Every event handles food differently: a catered package paid by the organiser, or a stall selling to visitors. Let us know what you have in mind. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, crackling and hog roast rolls, and typical bookings are for PTA summer fairs and church and village fêtes.

Near Sundridge, events may be far from shops and cafés, so a hog roast goes down well. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

The menu, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, cutting through the richness of the pork.

Roast pork

The hog roasts slowly for hours, so the meat is tender and juicy, and our chef carves it to order.

Prices and what affects them

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Site access
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Whether you want china

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we will ask:

  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • An estimate of numbers

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

How the day works

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Summer events in Sundridge have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading generally finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Organisers send us the event details.
  2. We confirm the pitch and send a price.
  3. We set up early on the pitch.
  4. We carve to order through the day.
  5. We leave the pitch clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Planning help

Catered or do it yourself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is typically easier.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To help:

  • Tell us if there is a vegetarian or vegan focus
  • Tell us what the event asks of traders
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Plan separately for halal if needed

We carve to order through the agreed hours.

Chicken widens the choice.

Sundridge questions

How far is Sundridge from London?

About 18 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Can you do a hog roast in Montreal Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What comes with the hog roast?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

How long does the roast need?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Do you leave the area tidy?

We clear the serving area and pack away, and leave the area tidy.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is normally fine if the venue is happy.

Do you cover Sundridge?

We do. Send us the address and we will confirm availability.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with cold food stalls, hot food is popular in any season. When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Why us?

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Carved by our chef in front of your visitors
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
