Hog roast for events in Winsor, carved to order

Village fêtes around Winsor suit a hog roast: the smell draws people over, and rolls are easy to eat while walking round. For PTA summer fairs and charity fundraisers, we will put together a menu of apple sauce, halloumi skewers and crackling and more.

A fête near Winsor might be on a field with no mains power; the roaster runs on gas, so that is fine. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so you’re not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with burger vans, a hog roast stands out. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Why Winsor hosts choose us

  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

See our pricing or the cost guide.

Full catering or machine hire?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

How the day works

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. Your visitors will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. In late May, sunset in Winsor is about 8:55pm, and midsummer ones until about 9:25pm. Evening festivals need lighting by the stall after that.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
  5. Afterwards we clear the pitch and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing make the roll.

Crackling

For many people, the crackling is the best bit: golden, crunchy and salty.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Halal is not offered
  • Balance the food line-up
  • Signpost the stall clearly
  • Put the menu and allergen information on display

If the ground is soft, we’ll need a firm route on and off, particularly in wet weather.

A vegan burger or sausage covers vegan visitors.
