Hog roast hire in Ascot, carved to order
There’s nothing quite like the smell of a hog roast drifting across a garden or field. We roast slowly on site in Ascot, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. We are frequently asked to cater community events and wakes, with new potatoes, spit-roast lamb and crackling.
In a small place like Ascot, a hog roast often goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, low and slow, for hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

How it works
Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Evenings in Ascot stay light until about 9:25pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.
- We start with a few details about your event.
- You get an availability check and a clear quote.
- Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
- We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
- Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.
Preparing for the day
- Measure the narrowest gate or passage
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
- Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

What affects the price in Ascot
We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:
- Menu choices and extras
- Site access
- Time on site
- Crockery choices
Distance is part of the price: travel is included in your quote. Give us the address for an accurate figure.
What we need to know
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:
- What the outdoor space is like
- Dietary requirements
- The date and when you’d like to eat
- Rules from the venue or landowner
Busy weekends book up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Tell us your date and we’ll check it: use our quote form.

Working with your venue
Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it is worth asking first. We will work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.
A hog roast or other catering?
Next to a formal plated meal, a hog roast doesn’t need a kitchen, which typically keeps the cost down. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.
Why book with us
- Cooked on the day, low and slow
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
- Sides to make it a full meal
- Timed around your day

Ascot: your questions answered
Which station is closest to Ascot?
Ascot station, in Ascot itself.
Is Ascot close to London?
About 25 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.
What if it rains?
We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.
What should we sort out beforehand?
The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.
Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?
Both are available: we can cater fully or hire out the machine. Catering is the most popular choice.
What comes with the hog roast?
Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.
How long does the roast need?
It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. We will confirm our arrival time when we quote.
Should I cook it myself?
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:
- Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
- Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
Name someone to meet us, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.
