What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Hog roast hire in Brookside, carved to order

With hog roast hire, the cooking happens at your event, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. Whether it is summer garden parties and club events and presentations, we’ll put together a menu of hog roast rolls, halloumi skewers and coleslaw.

In a small place like Brookside, a hog roast frequently goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. Timings are planned around your event, working back from when you want to eat.

Catered or do it yourself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

FAQs for Brookside

What’s the nearest station to Brookside?

The closest is Ascot station, roughly 1.3 miles away.

Is Brookside close to London?

Roughly 26 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you cover Brookside?

We do. Tell us the venue or postcode and we’ll confirm availability.

Who serves?

We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Tell us your date and we will send a price.

How big a hog will we need?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

Do you need power or water?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.

How we price a hog roast

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Travel to Brookside
  • How long the roast and service take
  • Crockery choices
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What we need to know

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Your menu choices
  • The date and time of the event
  • Rough numbers

If you are comparing hog roast caterers for Brookside, ask each one exactly what’s included. We spell it out in ours. To get yours, fill in our quote form.

How the day works

Serving is straightforward: the chef carves and the team serves, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. In Brookside, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Name a contact for the day

Diets, allergies and alternatives

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Find out who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

Let us know if the day runs late: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a cold buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. Buffets can sit out for hours. The main driver is numbers: the price per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.
