Hog roast hire in Ashford Common

Hog roast hire for your event in Ashford Common

We provide a fully catered hog roast: roasting, carving and serving are all done for you. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. On the menu are spit-roast lamb, crackling and hog roast rolls, and we are frequently booked for wakes and weddings and receptions.

In a smaller place like Ashford Common, a hog roast in the garden is often the simplest option: plenty of room, no hire fees and nobody stuck in the kitchen. Let us know how we reach the garden. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

Common questions in Ashford Common

Which station is closest to Ashford Common?

Upper Halliford station, about 0.9 miles south-east of the centre.

We are gathering after a service at St Saviour: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

How do we prepare?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We’ll bring the rest.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we don’t offer halal meat.

How long does the roast need?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Do you come to Ashford Common?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Ashford Common and Surrey. Send us the address for a quote.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

We offer full catering and DIY machine hire. Your quote will set out what’s included.

How much room do you need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will confirm the space with your quote.

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. A buffet can sit out all afternoon. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Why us?

  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Served at the time you choose

Looking after everyone

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so you only need to provide the space.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Full catering or machine hire?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

What happens on the day

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin crisps into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. In Ashford Common, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Gather dietary requirements early
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
