Hog roast hire for Brookgreen

Hog roast hire in Brookgreen, carved to order

Booking a hog roast means you don’t have to cook. We get there early, put up the cover and roast for hours, then carve and serve at the time you choose. Typical bookings include wedding breakfasts and evening food and gatherings after a funeral, serving hog roast rolls, rotisserie chicken and new potatoes.

In a rural place like Brookgreen, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Let us know about access and ground conditions. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

How the day works

The roaster is gas-fired, so we don’t need mains power to cook. In Brookgreen, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is usually in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:05pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. We carve and serve when you are ready to eat.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

What a hog roast costs

Each price is built from:

  • How many people are eating
  • Distance from us
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Crockery choices

The main driver is numbers: bigger groups generally cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • The venue or postcode
  • Your date and serving time
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

It’s easy to get a price: date, place, numbers and serving time. You’ll get a clear quote listing what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

What comes off the roaster

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

A plant-based burger or sausage covers vegans, served in a roll with salads.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: grilled halloumi with vegetables.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

Brookgreen is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

Popular choices

  • New potatoes
  • Coleslaw
  • Stuffing
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Crackling
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Apple sauce
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Salads
  • Roast or jacket potatoes

Brookgreen questions

We are gathering after a service at St. Mary's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Brookgreen too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Is crackling included?

It is: the skin turns to crackling and everyone gets some.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we don’t offer halal meat.

Can you cook a hog roast in a small garden?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Tell us about the garden and we’ll advise.

Will there be enough to go round?

We size the roast to your numbers, so a good estimate matters. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

How much room do you need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll check it with you before booking.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that is what we are there for. You can get on with your event.

Sides turn a roll into a proper meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

Why choose a hog roast in Brookgreen?

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. That is why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option for anyone who does not eat it. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why book our hog roast in Brookgreen

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Our staff serve and clear

Full catering or machine hire?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
