Full catering or machine hire?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

How our hog roast hire works in Marsh Green

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, which means it is carved hot, with crisp crackling. Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options can go alongside. Popular choices include spit-roast lamb, salads and crackling, and typical bookings are for clubhouse events and work summer parties.

In a rural place like Marsh Green, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. The hog is roasted on site at your event, low and slow, for hours.

Why choose hog roast hire in Marsh Green?

A hog roast suits big outdoor gatherings in Marsh Green: a whole hog goes a long way, and the carving gives people something to watch.

However big or small the event in Marsh Green, a hog roast feeds a crowd well. Bookings frequently include:

  • Sports clubs and societies
  • Wedding breakfasts and evening food
  • Birthdays and anniversaries
  • Gatherings after a funeral

PTAs at schools such as Brighstone Church of England Aided Primary School often look for a hot-food stall for fairs and sports days.

What your quote should include

  • Travel and any London charges
  • The deposit, balance and cancellation terms
  • What the price includes, item by item
  • How long the roast takes and when they’ll arrive

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Diets, allergies and alternatives

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them

The roaster needs looking after for hours, and that is what we’re there for. You can get on with your event.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

Marsh Green: your questions answered

Is Marsh Green too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can you cater after a service at St. Mary's Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain does not stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Will there be enough to go round?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Do we need to provide electricity?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.

What do people get?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.

Is it just pork?

The hog is the centrepiece, but lamb and chicken can be added.

What affects the price in Marsh Green

Things that change the price:

  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Access to the cooking area
  • How many people are eating
  • Season and day of the week

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Getting an accurate quote

To get the best quote, send us:

  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Rough numbers
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture

It is easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. We will reply with a clear price and what’s included. Use our quote form.

Space, access and the venue

It is worth planning the cooking area in advance. We look for:

  • Parking near the spot
  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • Space away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Marsh Green is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

A hog roast has one downside: it’s pork. That’s why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Why us?

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests

How the day works

Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. In Marsh Green, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:05pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
