Hog roast hire in Catisfield, slow-roasted on site

The format is simple and it works for almost any crowd: pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a roll, plus lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan choices if you want them. We serve hog roast rolls, rotisserie chicken and coleslaw, and we’re regularly asked to cater corporate events and wakes and memorial gatherings.

In a smaller place like Catisfield, a hog roast in the garden is often the simplest option: plenty of room, no hire fees and nobody stuck in the kitchen. Tell us about access down the drive or side of the house. Your quote spells out what’s included: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

Should I cook it myself?

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

For event organisers in Catisfield

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before booking. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

Planning a hog roast in Catisfield

Catisfield is about 1 mile west of Fareham, in Hampshire. We bring a hog roast to events anywhere in Catisfield, as long as there is an outdoor spot to cook. We bring hog roasts to all 683 towns and villages across Hampshire. You can also see our page for Southampton, about 9 miles away.

Churches such as Church of St Peter rarely have room for a roaster, but a hall or home close by usually does. School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Ranvilles Infant School, can book a hog roast stall. The coast is within about 4 miles of Catisfield, and sea breezes can be strong. We think about wind when choosing the cooking spot and putting up the cover.

We cover events in every part of PO15 and PO14 and the streets around it. Local streets include Mill Lane, Bradly Road and Harcourt Road; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. We also bring hog roasts to events in Heathfield (1 mile east), Titchfield (1 mile west), Titchfield Park (1 mile north-west), Funtley (2 miles north-east) and Little Posbrook (2 miles south-west). Further out, we also cater in Winchester (15 miles north), Gosport (4 miles south-east), Havant (10 miles east), Eastleigh (10 miles north-west), Horndean (10 miles north-east) and Totton (13 miles west).

What comes off the roaster

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Halloumi and vegetable skewers are the vegetarian choice: grilled halloumi with vegetables.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Choose from salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes, to suit your event.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with food vans, a hog roast serves a lot of people from one roast, with no waiting for individual orders to cook. Distance is part of the price: we include travel in the quote. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

Why us?

  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

See our prices page and the cost guide.

Planning the cooking spot

Planning the cooking spot is the key. A quick checklist:

  • A sheltered place for people to eat if it rains
  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • Any venue rules sorted in advance

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Catisfield questions

What’s the nearest station to Catisfield?

Fareham station, about 1.3 miles east of the centre.

Can you roast near the sea around Catisfield?

Yes. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we will check.

How much will it be?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

Will people get crackling?

Of course: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

How does hog roast hire work?

We bring the roaster, roast the hog on site for hours, then our chef carves it and our staff serve, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling.

How big a hog will we need?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

How it works

Expect a calm, organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, use the cooking spot you’ve chosen, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Around midsummer it stays light in Catisfield until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is typically in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 4:00pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

How to prepare

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand

Allergies and dietary needs

We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:

  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Remember that stuffing generally contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

Slow roasting needs attention, which is our job, not yours. You can get on with your event.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Prices and what affects them

There is no fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Season and day of the week
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Travel to Catisfield

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.
