Hog roast hire for Enfield Island Village

Hog roast hire for your event in Enfield Island Village

Booking a hog roast means you don’t have to cook. We arrive hours before you eat, set up under cover and roast slowly, then carve and serve at the time you choose. Typical bookings include christmas parties and weddings and receptions, with halloumi skewers, salads and rotisserie chicken.

London gardens around Enfield Island Village are frequently small and close to neighbours, so clearance from fences and windows matters most. A word with the neighbours before a long roast is always a good idea. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, low and slow, for hours, and carved only when you are ready to eat.

Prices and what affects them

We work out each quote from:

  • The journey to the venue
  • The number of people
  • Crockery choices
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Details that help

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • The venue or postcode
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • What the outdoor space is like

When you are weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. Ours lists it clearly. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

What the cooking area needs

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • Access for our equipment, without steps
  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees

Enfield Island Village is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.

Full catering or machine hire?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Planners, venues and businesses

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Questions from Enfield Island Village

What’s the nearest station to Enfield Island Village?

The closest is Enfield Lock station, roughly 0.6 miles away.

We are gathering after a service at Ss Peter and Paul Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you cover the whole of Greater London?

All of Greater London is in our area. Tell us the venue for a quote.

What if it rains?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Do you serve the food?

We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. We’ll explain what’s included in each when we quote.

Do you clear up?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

What if things run late?

We’ll be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we will fit around changes.

How it works

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Enfield Island Village, sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, but by late December it is dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Before we arrive

  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Planning help

The menu, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

If timings shift, tell us: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.
