Hog roast hire in Golden Cross

About our hog roast hire in Golden Cross

Booking a hog roast means you do not have to cook. We arrive hours before you eat, set up under cover and roast slowly, ready to carve when you are. We serve new potatoes, salads and rotisserie chicken, and we’re regularly asked to cater milestone birthdays and wakes and memorial gatherings.

Somewhere as small as Golden Cross, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and level, firm ground is the key. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

A hog roast or other catering?

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Distance is part of the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

Why book our hog roast in Golden Cross

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

What a hog roast costs

Your quote depends on:

  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • The number of people
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Details that help

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Your date and serving time

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time. We’ll confirm availability and send a price. Fill in our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Common questions in Golden Cross

We’re gathering after a service at The Parish Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is Golden Cross too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Is it just pork?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.

Do we need to provide electricity?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. We do not offer halal meat.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Light matters for a long roast: in Golden Cross, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:15pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Gather dietary requirements early

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations
  • Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option

If timings shift, tell us: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.
