Hog roast hire for Hampstead

How our hog roast hire works in Hampstead

It’s a simple format that suits most crowds: roast pork in a soft roll, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling, plus lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan choices if you want them. For christmas parties and club events and presentations, we’ll put together a menu of hog roast rolls, rotisserie chicken and coleslaw.

In a London neighbourhood like Hampstead, the big question is getting the roaster to the cooking spot. If there’s no side passage, a rear gate, yard or communal space may work, and a photo helps us check. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we will tell you exactly what’s in each dish before you book.

What comes off the roaster

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

A hog roast roll is designed to be eaten in the hand. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved thick or thin, as people like it, and served hot.

Allergies and dietary needs

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

Expect us to be on site for much of the day, because the roast starts hours before you eat.

We also hire out the roaster for DIY hog roasts.

The process

Expect a calm, organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we’ve agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Planning an evening hog roast in Hampstead? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps

Planning help

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

Catered or do it yourself?

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a cold buffet, hot roast pork carved in front of you is a different experience. Buffets can sit out for hours. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Served at the time you choose

Prices and what affects them

Each price is built from:

  • Whether you want china
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Time on site
  • Travel to Hampstead

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we will suggest the best fit for your budget.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Hampstead questions

Could you cook in Kilburn Grange Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

We’re gathering after a service at St John-at-Hampstead church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is normally elsewhere. Send us the address.

Do you serve the crackling?

It is: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will check it with you before booking.

Is our garden big enough?

It depends on the space and access more than size. Describe the space and we’ll tell you honestly.

What if things run late?

Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

When do you start roasting?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
