For event organisers in Hoe

If you are booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We’ll fit in with site rules.

Should I cook it myself?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.

What a hog roast costs

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Access to the cooking area
  • How many people are eating
  • The journey to the venue

When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Getting an accurate quote

To get the best quote, tell us:

  • Dietary requirements
  • The venue or postcode
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • The date and time of the event

Send us the date, the address or GU5 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We’ll confirm availability and send a price. Fill in our quote form.

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Around midsummer it stays light in Hoe until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

How to prepare

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Next to a barbecue, one roast feeds everyone at once, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.
