Hog roast hire in Little Venice

Catered or do it yourself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

How our hog roast hire works in Little Venice

Hog roast hire means a whole pig roasted slowly at your venue, for hours, under a gazebo outside. When it’s ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and a piece of crackling. For garden parties and barbecues and club events and presentations, we can cook rotisserie chicken, hog roast rolls and new potatoes for your guests.

Gardens in Little Venice tend to be compact, with neighbours on both sides, so we look for a spot well away from fences, sheds and windows. A word with the neighbours before a long roast is always a good idea. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

Working with your venue

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

If you are booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

How the day works

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. Evenings in Little Venice stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Permission from the venue or landowner

Prices and what affects them

There is no fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Distance from us
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • The number of people

UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

FAQs for Little Venice

What if our house in Little Venice has no side access?

Often, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we’ll advise.

Can you do a hog roast in Kensington Gardens?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

How big a hog will we need?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will confirm everything in writing.

When should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Ask and we’ll check.

Do we need our own staff?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Do we need to provide electricity?

The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.

How long does the roast need?

Hours rather than minutes. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Why choose a hog roast in Little Venice?

Catered or DIY? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. For bigger events, catering is generally the easier choice. For larger numbers, a hog roast is typically good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Planning for dietary needs

Some guests won’t eat pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option

If timings shift, tell us: a cooked roast can be held for a while before carving.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
