Hog roast hire in Netley Marsh

Hog roast hire for your event in Netley Marsh

In Netley Marsh, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. The idea is always the same: a slow roast on site, carved fresh and served by our team. Popular choices include coleslaw, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken, and we are regularly asked to cater festive gatherings and birthdays and anniversaries.

Somewhere as small as Netley Marsh, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. We plan the timings around your day, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, with gluten-free rolls on request.

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb is popular alongside the pork, especially for guests who don’t eat pork.

The process

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so we do not need mains power to cook; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. In Netley Marsh, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Space, access and the venue

A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Ideally:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Crockery choices
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Travel to Netley Marsh

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Getting an accurate quote

To check the date and the space, tell us:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
  • Allergies we should know about

Numbers not final yet? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, and you can confirm nearer the time. Send us your details through our quote form.

For event organisers in Netley Marsh

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you are booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

Netley Marsh questions

Do you come out to small places like Netley Marsh?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Matthew: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Is our garden big enough?

Many gardens are big enough, and a way to wheel the equipment through. A photo helps us check.

What comes with the hog roast?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

What happens after service?

We pack everything away after service, so you are not left with the mess.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

Do you cook it or do we?

Both are available: we can cater fully or hire out the machine. Most people choose catering.

Do you bring plates?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue, one roast feeds everyone at once, instead of food coming off the grill in batches. Our guide compares the two. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why us?

  • Sides to make it a full meal
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

See our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
