Hog roast hire for Rusper

Hog roast hire for your event in Rusper

There’s nothing quite like the smell of a hog roast drifting across a garden or field. We roast slowly on site in Rusper, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. We serve halloumi skewers, salads and rotisserie chicken, and we are regularly asked to cater summer garden parties and corporate events.

In a hamlet or village like Rusper, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

About the food

Crackling

Crackling is what people queue for: golden, crunchy and salty, straight off the hog.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Vegan guests can have a vegan burger or sausage, so everyone has something hot.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with food vans, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast, with no waiting for individual orders to cook. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Why book with us

  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • Sides to make it a full meal

What happens on the day

On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. By late September, sunset in Rusper is around 7:05pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:55pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. You share the when, where and how many.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

How we price a hog roast

Your quote depends on:

  • The number of people
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Time on site

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

What to tell us

To check availability and the cooking area, tell us:

  • Rough numbers
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • The address or postcode
  • Allergies we should know about

Not sure how many to cater for? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, then confirm closer to the date. Fill in our quote form.

Common questions in Rusper

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.

How far is Rusper from London?

About 27 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. China is available at an extra cost.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Is crackling included?

Crackling is part of every roll for anyone who wants it.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.

What happens in bad weather?

We roast under cover, so the food isn’t affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Can you cater in Rusper?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Rusper and West Sussex. Tell us the venue and we will quote.

Full catering or machine hire?

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

Where the roaster can go in Rusper

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Any venue rules sorted in advance

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

We will agree a contact for the day, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

Prefer to cook yourself? Ask about DIY machine hire.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
