Hog roast hire for your event in Sarre

The format is simple and it works for almost any crowd: pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a roll, and alternatives for anyone who doesn’t eat pork. Typical bookings include birthdays and anniversaries and sports clubs and societies, serving spit-roast lamb, coleslaw and new potatoes.

In a hamlet or village like Sarre, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

FAQs for Sarre

Is Sarre too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can you roast near the sea around Sarre?

Yes, of course. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

How much will it be?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

Do we need to provide electricity?

No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.

Is crackling included?

Crackling is part of every roll for anyone who wants it.

Do you cover Sarre?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Sarre and Kent. Tell us the venue and we’ll quote.

How long does the roast need?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Who serves?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

How we price a hog roast

Here’s what affects the price:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Which meats and sides you choose

A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to include:

  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Where the event is
  • Allergies we should know about

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep you both updated.

Planning for dietary needs

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, and order an alternative for them

You will not need to worry about the food on the day. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.

Sides turn a roll into a proper meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

Hog roast hire around Sarre

Sarre is about 5 miles south-east of Herne Bay, in Kent. We cover events in Sarre, along with the towns and villages around it. We bring hog roasts to all 922 towns and villages across Kent. Our nearest city page is Canterbury, about 8 miles away.

Historic houses near Sarre include Quex Park (4.1 miles north-east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and gas cooking early. Churches such as Church of Saint Nicholas rarely have room for a roaster, but a hall or home close by usually does. Sarre is within about 6 miles of the sea, and sea breezes can be strong. We think about wind when choosing the cooking spot and putting up the cover.

Events anywhere in CT7 start with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Local streets include Island Road, Old Road and Chantry Park; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. Close by, we cover events in St Nicholas at Wade (1 mile north-east), West Stourmouth (1 mile south), East Stourmouth (2 miles south), Monkton (2 miles east) and Upstreet (2 miles south-west). Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. We look for:

  • A level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

How the day works

The roaster is gas-fired, so we don’t need mains power to cook. In Sarre, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:50pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We clear up and go.

How to prepare

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. Gluten-free rolls can be provided on request.

Spit-roast lamb

Spit-roast lamb is popular alongside the pork, especially for guests who do not eat pork.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

A hog roast has one downside: it is pork. That’s why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option for anyone who does not eat it. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.
