Working with your venue

Hog roast hire in Teddington, slow-roasted on site
A hog roast is one of the simplest ways to feed a crowd in Teddington: a single slow roast, carved to order. We bring the roaster, the cover and the serving kit, and our staff serve and clear. Whether it’s garden parties and barbecues and christmas parties, we can cook crackling, new potatoes and coleslaw.
In a London neighbourhood like Teddington, the big question is getting the roaster to the cooking spot. Many terraced houses have no side access, so tell us whether there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use, and send us a picture. Timings are planned around your event, working back from when you want to eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

A hog roast or other catering?
Catered or DIY? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. Most hosts choose catering for anything bigger than a family party. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
Why book with us
- Served at the time you choose
- Carved by our chef in front of your guests
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- All the equipment comes with us

The process
On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Evenings in Teddington stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.
- You share the when, where and how many.
- We check the space and quote.
- We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
- Our chef carves and our staff serve.
- We clear up and go.
Getting ready for the day
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Send final numbers in good time
- Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster

Diets, allergies and alternatives
We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:
- Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
- Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
- Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
We will be with you for a good part of the day, since slow roasting starts early.
We can supply china instead of standard plates, at an extra cost.

Teddington questions
Could you cook in Bushy Park?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first.
Which station is closest to Teddington?
Teddington station, in Teddington itself.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear up after service, and leave the area tidy.
Do you provide china?
Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.
Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?
You can have us cook, or hire the machine. Your quote will set out what’s included.
Can you cater in Teddington?
Yes, Teddington is in our area. Send us the address and we’ll check the date.
What’s included?
Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.
How much will it be?
It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.
DIY versus a catered hog roast
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Prices and what affects them
The price comes down to:
- Distance from us
- Which meats and sides you choose
- Access to the cooking area
- Plates or china
The main driver is numbers: bigger groups normally cost less per head, since much of the cost is fixed.
Details that help
We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:
- Where the roaster could go, ideally with a picture
- Anything the venue has asked for
- Roughly how many people
- Your menu choices
Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, plus when you’d like to eat. We’ll check the date and send a quote. Use our quote form.
Space, access and the venue
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:
- A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
- A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
- Space away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
As a London location, Teddington is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.
