Hog roast hire for your event in Touchen-end

The smell of roasting pork is half the appeal. We roast slowly on site in Touchen-end, then carve the pork into rolls with all the trimmings. On the menu are salads, new potatoes and halloumi skewers, and we are regularly asked to cater gatherings after a funeral and weddings, day or evening.

In a hamlet or village like Touchen-end, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

The process

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Late September evenings in Touchen-end lose the light at about 7:05pm, and in December it is nearer 3:55pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve when you are ready to eat.
  5. We clear the serving area and pack away.

How to prepare

  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

For event organisers in Touchen-end

If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Let us know what your event requires and we will tell you what we can send.

What comes off the roaster

Rotisserie chicken

For guests who don’t eat pork, rotisserie chicken is the easy answer, and it suits fussy eaters.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Tell us how many vegans to expect, and we’ll plan the vegan burgers or sausages.

Looking after everyone

Some guests will not eat pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option

If timings shift, tell us: we can hold the roast for a while.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast.

Prices and what affects them

Each price is built from:

  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Plates or china
  • Site access
  • Numbers

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

Getting an accurate quote

These are the details we need:

  • Roughly how many people
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • The address or postcode
  • Dietary requirements

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Send us your date for a quote: fill in our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • Any venue rules sorted in advance

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

Catered or do it yourself?

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

A hog roast has one downside: it’s pork. That’s why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
