Hog roast hire for your event in Way
In Way, we cater birthdays, weddings, staff days and fêtes. Whatever the occasion, the format is the same: slow roasting at your venue, then carving and serving. We’re often asked to cater garden parties and barbecues and staff days and open days, with halloumi skewers, hog roast rolls and crackling.
In a hamlet or village like Way, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we will tell you exactly what’s in each dish.
What affects the price in Way
The price comes down to:
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- The journey to the venue
- Numbers
- How long the roast and service take
Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.
What we need to know
The more we know, the more accurate the quote. Useful details:
- The venue or postcode
- Anything the venue has asked for
- Dietary requirements
- A photo of the cooking area
Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, along with your serving time. We’ll confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.
Way: your questions answered
Can you roast near the sea around Way?
Yes, of course. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.
What’s the nearest station to Way?
The closest is Minster station, roughly 0.9 miles away.
Is there a non-pork option?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.
Do you provide china?
Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.
What about coeliacs?
We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information.
How do you work out quantities?
We size the roast to your numbers, so a good estimate matters. The quote sets it out.
Will people get crackling?
It is: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.
Who serves?
You don’t need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.
Should I cook it myself?
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.
Allergies and dietary needs
Rolls and stuffing typically contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:
- Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
- Count anyone who does not eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, and our staff clear the serving area afterwards.
A second roast, lamb or chicken, gives people a choice, priced in the quote.
For planners, venues and organisers
If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.
Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

A hog roast or other catering?
Compared with a barbecue, one roast feeds everyone at once, instead of food coming off the grill in batches. Our guide compares the two. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.
Why Way hosts choose us
- Planned to your running order
- Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
- Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

How it works
The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. In Way, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:50pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.
- Send us your date, numbers and address.
- We look at the cooking area and send a price.
- We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
- The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
- We clear up and go.
Getting ready for the day
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
- Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
