Hog roast hire for Wickham Heath

Hog roast hire for your event in Wickham Heath

Our hog roast hire is fully catered: we roast, our chef carves and our staff serve. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. For wakes and memorial gatherings and big birthdays and anniversaries, we can cook halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and hog roast rolls.

Somewhere like Wickham Heath, a yard or firm field often works. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Timings are planned around your event, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Organising for someone else?

Booking for a club or group? A single point of contact keeps things simple, especially on the day.

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

The hog roasts slowly for hours, so the meat is tender and juicy, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.

Rotisserie chicken

For guests who do not eat pork, rotisserie chicken is the easy answer, and it suits fussy eaters.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Late September evenings in Wickham Heath lose the light at about 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:00pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Before we arrive

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Planning help

A hog roast or other catering?

Full catering or machine hire? With catering we roast, carve and serve; with hire you do the cooking. For bigger events, catering is usually the easier choice. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

What you get with us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests

Wickham Heath: your questions answered

We’re gathering after a service at Parish Church of St Andrew: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Send us the address.

Is Wickham Heath too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Do you clear up?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.

Do we need to provide electricity?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Let us know what’s on site.

What about coeliacs?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You will get allergen details for everything.
