Party hog roast near Aldershot

A party at home needs a little planning for the roaster: level ground outdoors, clear of the house and fences. We’ll help you choose. Typical bookings include retirement celebrations and engagement parties, with jacket potatoes, hog roast rolls and a vegan burger or sausage.

In a town like Aldershot, a garden party with a hog roast is a classic choice, and a hall or club works if the garden is small. We need a level spot away from the house. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, and carved only when you are ready to eat.

Common questions in Aldershot

Which station is closest to Aldershot?

Aldershot has its own station: Aldershot station.

Can you do a hog roast in Princes Gardens?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.

Do you provide china?

Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.

How big a hog will we need?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.

How much room do you need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will confirm the space with your quote.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

How far ahead should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But it’s always worth asking: fill in our quote form.

Events we cater in Aldershot

The smell and the carving make it part of the party.

However big or small the event in Aldershot, a slow roast goes a long way. Bookings frequently include:

  • Leaving and retirement do’s
  • Street parties
  • Getting-engaged parties
  • Big birthday parties

Parks such as Princes Gardens generally need permission from the council or landowner for any cooking, so check first.

  • What the price includes, item by item

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Why choose a hog roast in Aldershot?

Hire the machine or book catering? DIY hire works for relaxed get-togethers; catering suits bigger or more important parties. Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote. Tell us the exact address for an accurate figure.

Why book with us

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow

Read our pricing or our hog roast cost guide.

Catered or do it yourself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

The process

The secret is time: the meat cooks gently until it’s tender while the skin turns into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. Sunset in Aldershot is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so most summer parties eat in daylight. Winter parties, dark by about 3:55pm, need lights by the roaster.

  1. You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours ahead and start the roast under cover.
  4. When it’s time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. Afterwards we tidy up the serving area.

Getting ready for the day

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Not everyone eats pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Let us know roughly how many children
  • Add a dietary question to the invite
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect

Warn the neighbours: the roast cooks for hours, and they may ask for a roll.

Bunting or festoon lights near the serving table make a lovely party setting.

Prices and what affects them

Things that change the price:

  • Time on site
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Which meats and sides you choose

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, tell us:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Dietary requirements
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • The venue or postcode

Busy weekends book up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Tell us your date and we’ll check it: use our quote form.

Planning the cooking spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • Space for our vehicle near the drive
  • A heads-up for next door
  • A spot well away from the house

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.
