Slow-roasted pork in Chiswick

Party hog roast in Chiswick, carved to order

For a relaxed party, you can hire the machine and cook it yourself. Most hosts prefer us to do it, so they can enjoy the party. For summer parties in the garden and 18th, 21st, 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays, we can cook apple sauce, a vegan burger or sausage and rotisserie chicken.

Most parties in Chiswick are at home, and in London that means getting the roaster into the garden. With no side passage, a rear gate or front garden may work. Send us a picture. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Should I cook it myself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

How the day works

The roaster is gas-fired, so we do not need mains power to cook. At midsummer, it is light in Chiswick until about 9:20pm, so a garden party can run well into the evening. By late September sunset is around 7:05pm, so plan festoon lights for later parties.

  1. You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. We check the space and send a clear quote.
  3. We arrive in good time and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve when you’re ready.
  5. Afterwards we tidy up the serving area.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Give us a contact number for the day

How to get a price

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Ask us for a quote for your party: use our quote form.

Planning help

What the cooking area needs

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work with a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • A step-free way into the garden
  • A word with the neighbours
  • Flat ground in the garden or on the drive

Chiswick is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
  • Count non-pork eaters so we can bring chicken or a vegetarian option
  • Let us know roughly how many children
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect

At food time, we carve and serve, then tidy up.

Rotisserie chicken is popular at family parties.

Stuffing and apple sauce

Sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce are the classic partners, balancing the rich, salty pork.

Chiswick questions

What’s the nearest station to Chiswick?

Chiswick station, about 0.8 miles south-west of the centre.

What if our house in Chiswick has no side access?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard usually works. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

What happens after service?

We clear the serving area and pack away, and leave the area tidy.

How far ahead should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But it’s always worth asking: fill in our quote form.

What if things run late?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Do you bring plates and clear up?

Plates come as standard and our staff clear the serving area.

Is there a non-pork option?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. We will explain the details with your quote.

Prices and what affects them

Every booking is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Whether you want china
  • Time on site
  • Season and day of the week
  • The journey to the venue

The main driver is numbers: the price per head usually falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
