A hog roast near Chiswick

About our hog roast hire in Chiswick

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, for hours, under a gazebo outside. Then our chef carves it and the team serves it in rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. For birthdays and anniversaries and village fêtes and school fairs, we will put together a menu of salads, hog roast rolls and rotisserie chicken.

From a family garden to an office courtyard, bookings in Chiswick come in all shapes. Tell us how we get the equipment in. Your quote spells out what’s included: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

Full catering or machine hire?

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We will keep you both updated.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

How it works

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. In Chiswick, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
  3. We arrive well ahead, put the cover up and get the hog roasting.
  4. At serving time, the chef carves and the team serves.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

We’ll be with you for a good part of the day, because the roast starts hours before you eat.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Your questions about a hog roast in Chiswick

We’re gathering after a service at St. Nicholas Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Chiswick?

Often, if there’s a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Is it just pork?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.

How soon do you get booked up?

As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can frequently be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Can you do gluten-free?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. You will get allergen details for everything.

What comes with the hog roast?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

What should we sort out beforehand?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Within reason, we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

Events we cater in Chiswick

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, balancing the rich, salty pork.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.

Space, access and the venue

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather

As a London location, Chiswick is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.
