About our party hog roast in Colindale

In Colindale, a hog roast is a favourite for birthdays and garden parties: one roast, enough for a crowd. We serve and tidy up. On the menu are coleslaw, jacket potatoes and apple sauce, and we are regularly asked to cater getting-engaged parties and big family get-togethers.

In Colindale, a party at home is the usual choice, and access is the question. With no side passage, a rear gate or front garden may work. Send us a photo. The hog is roasted on site at your party, slowly, over several hours.

Perfect for your party in Colindale

Most children happily eat pork in a roll, with chicken as a backup.

Lots of different events suit a hog roast in Colindale. Typical bookings include:

  • Naming ceremonies
  • Milestone birthdays
  • Family reunions
  • Leaving and retirement do’s

A green space like Sunny Hill Park is tempting, but a gas-fired roaster there needs the landowner’s say-so, normally the council’s.

Allergies and dietary needs

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Keep the vegetarian option labelled
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
  • Let us know roughly how many children

We set up where we agreed and stay out of the way, so the party carries on around us.

Rotisserie chicken is popular at family parties.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We’ll fit in with site rules.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.

What we serve, dish by dish

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls or plates? Rolls are quicker; plates suit a sit-down meal, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Sides include salads, coleslaw, new potatoes and roast or jacket potatoes, to suit your event.

Should I cook it myself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is typically easier.

Your questions about a hog roast for your party in Colindale

Can you do a hog roast in Sunny Hill Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Which station is closest to Colindale?

Hendon station, about 1 mile south-east of the centre.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

When do you start roasting?

Hours rather than minutes. We will confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Can we hire the hog roast machine for our party?

Yes, DIY machine hire is available. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works.

Do you come to Colindale?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Colindale and Greater London. Send us the address for a quote.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Can you do gluten-free?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

The process

When we arrive, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. At midsummer, it is light in Colindale until about 9:20pm, so a garden party can run well into the evening. In late September it is dark by about 7:05pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Show us the garden or drive.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. On the day, we roast slowly under cover.
  4. We serve when you’re ready.
  5. We leave the garden tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
