Why choose a hog roast in Cooper's Green?

Next to a party buffet, a hog roast is hot and freshly carved. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. Every booking is different, so we quote each one individually.

Why Cooper's Green hosts choose us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • An itemised quote
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

Read our prices page or the cost guide.

How we price a hog roast for your party

The biggest factors are:

  • Time on site
  • Travel to Cooper's Green
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Access to the cooking area

Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Questions from Cooper's Green

Is Cooper's Green close to London?

Roughly 36 miles from the centre of London.

Could you cook in Hempstead Meadow?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first.

Do you provide china?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Is mains power needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

When should we book?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Will a hog roast fit in our garden?

Most gardens can work, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a photo.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.

What happens on the day

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we have agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. At midsummer, it’s light in Cooper's Green until about 9:15pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:05pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Send a picture of where the roaster could go.
  2. We confirm it works and send a quote.
  3. We cook for hours on site.
  4. Our staff serve rolls and sides.
  5. We leave the garden tidy.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
