How our party hog roast works in Lee-on-the-Solent

A party hog roast turns a garden party into an occasion. We set up in your garden or on the drive, roast slowly for hours and carve when you’re ready, so you are not stuck in the kitchen. Popular choices include coleslaw, apple sauce and rotisserie chicken, and typical bookings are for close and cul-de-sac parties and ruby, golden and diamond anniversaries.

For a party in Lee-on-the-Solent, home is often the best venue. Tell us about the drive and the garden, and we will do the rest. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours.

Is a hog roast right for your party?

Compared with a restaurant booking, a hog roast at home lets everyone relax in the garden. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why book with us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork
  • We bring everything to cook and serve

Read our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

Organising for someone else?

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we will tell you what we can send.

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

How the day works

People love watching the carving: our chef carves the pork in front of the queue, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. In Lee-on-the-Solent, late May sunsets come at about 8:55pm and midsummer ones at about 9:20pm, so most summer parties eat in daylight. After about 4:00pm in December, we need light to carve.

  1. Start with the date, the address and roughly how many.
  2. We check the space and send a price.
  3. We arrive early and get the roast going.
  4. At food time, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We clear the serving area and go.

Before we arrive

Catered or do it yourself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

How we price a hog roast for your party

There’s no fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Plates or china
  • Site access
  • The number of people
  • How long the roast and service take

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and the cooking area, we will need:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Rough numbers
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Allergies we should know about

We price every booking individually, based on numbers, menu, timings and distance. Ask us for a quote for your party: send us your details through our quote form.

Can you roast near the sea around Lee-on-the-Solent?

Yes, of course. Wind is something we plan for: a sheltered spot and secure cover.

Do we need to wash up?

We bring plates and clear up after service.

What comes with the hog roast?

Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.

How long does the roast need?

Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Is there a non-pork option?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Send us the details and we will quote.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Keep the vegetarian option labelled
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect
  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed

On the day, we arrive hours before the party starts, so it is cooking when guests arrive.

Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.

  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
