Party hog roast near Ridley

Hosting a party means juggling everything at once. With a hog roast, the food is sorted: we cook, carve and serve. We’re often asked to cater engagement celebrations and back-garden get-togethers, with crackling, jacket potatoes and coleslaw.

A country party near Ridley is perfect for a hog roast: roasted all afternoon and carved on the lawn. Have a covered area for guests in wet weather. The hog is roasted on site at your party, low and slow, for hours, and carved only when you’re ready to eat.

Should I cook it myself?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

For event organisers in Ridley

For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it is worth asking first. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

The process

We work to your timings. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so keep us posted on the day. Sunset in Ridley is about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so most summer parties eat in daylight. After about 3:50pm in December, we need light to carve.

  1. Start with the date, the address and roughly how many.
  2. We check the space and send a price.
  3. We set up hours ahead.
  4. We carve and serve at food time.
  5. We tidy up and pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

Getting a price

When you are weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. Ours lists it clearly. To get yours, fill in our quote form.

The menu, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Why choose a hog roast in Ridley?

Next to a party buffet, a hog roast is hot and freshly carved. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why Ridley hosts choose us

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Sides to make it a full meal

Read how we price and the cost guide.

How we price a hog roast for your party

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • The number of people
  • Travel to Ridley
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Time on site

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Allergies we should know about
  • Your date and serving time
  • Your menu choices

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A photo of the cooking area helps. Send us your details through our quote form.

Ridley questions

We’re gathering after a service at Church of Saint Peter: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

Is clearing up included?

We bring plates and clear up after service.

Will a hog roast fit in our garden?

Most gardens can work, and a way to wheel the equipment through. A picture helps.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Tell us your date and we’ll send a price.

Is there a non-pork option?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We do not offer halal meat.

Do you bring plates?

Plates come as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we’ll add it to the quote.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.
