Party hog roast in Sunnymeads

Parties in Sunnymeads: homes, halls and local tips

Sunnymeads is about 3 miles north of Egham, in Surrey. Thinking about a hog roast for your party in Sunnymeads? We can help. Sunnymeads is one of 395 towns and villages in Surrey where we cater. You can also see our page for Guildford, about 15 miles away.

If you had Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve in mind, ask the council or landowner first: we cannot simply set up a roaster in a public park. Christenings and naming days often start at a local church such as SS Peter and Andrew's Church, with a hog roast at home or in a hall afterwards.

Anywhere in TW19, SL4 and SL3, we can roast on site for your guests. That could mean a party in a garden on The Avenue, Park Avenue and Welley Road or the roads around them, wherever there’s an outdoor spot for the roaster. Nearby, we also cater parties in Wraysbury (1 mile south), Horton (1 mile east), Old Windsor (1 mile south-west), Brands Hill (1 mile north-east) and Datchet (1 mile north-west). We also serve nearby towns such as Guildford (15 miles south), Woking (10 miles south), Camberley (12 miles south-west), Epsom (15 miles south-east), Ewell (15 miles south-east) and Egham (3 miles south).

A little further out are Berkshire Yeomanry Museum (2.2 miles west) and Windsor Castle (2.2 miles north-west). Green spaces nearby include Staines Reservoirs.

  • Nearby schools include Churchmead School (1.5 miles north-west)
  • Local pubs include The Perserverance Public House (0.8 miles south)

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Looking after everyone

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
  • Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
  • Check the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Count non-pork eaters so we can bring chicken or a vegetarian option

Clear the route to the garden before we arrive, so we can bring everything through.

A string of lights by the carving station looks great as it gets dark.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, a hot, filling option of their own.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what we can provide.

Prices and what affects them

Things that change the price:

  • Time on site
  • Numbers
  • Crockery choices
  • Season and day of the week

UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

How to compare hog roast caterers

A hog roast compared with other options

Next to a barbecue, you’re not stuck flipping burgers all afternoon, and the food is ready for everyone at once. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • An itemised quote
  • Serving and clearing done for you

How it works

People love watching the carving: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. In Sunnymeads, late May sunsets come at about 8:55pm and midsummer ones at about 9:25pm, so an early-evening carve is normally in daylight. After about 3:55pm in December, we need light to carve.

  1. You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. We arrive in good time and start roasting.
  4. When it is time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We clear up and pack away.

Getting ready for the day

Questions from Sunnymeads

We’re gathering after a service at SS Peter and Andrew's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Do you come out to small places like Sunnymeads?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Is crockery included?

We bring plates as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we will add it to the quote.

Is our garden suitable?

Tell us about the garden and the access, and we’ll tell you if it works.

Do we need cover?

We cover the cooking area, but plan somewhere dry for guests.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. Ask and we’ll talk you through it.

What about the neighbours?

Let them know in advance, especially if the roaster is near a fence.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
