Wedding hog roast for Bachelor's Bump

About our wedding hog roast in Bachelor's Bump

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. We serve halloumi skewers, new potatoes and carved roast pork, and we are regularly asked to cater blessings and renewals and small, informal weddings.

Near Bachelor's Bump, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, low and slow, for hours.

How it works

We work to your timings. If things run late, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so keep us posted on the day. For a summer wedding in Bachelor's Bump, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and running order.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking spot are agreed with you and the venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

Questions from Bachelor's Bump

Is Bachelor's Bump too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Could you cook in Speckled Wood?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first.

Can you work around our timings?

We work back from when you want to eat, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We will give you full allergen information for every dish.

What’s the price?

Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Is mains power needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

We cook outside, never inside the marquee, and we agree the spot with your venue.

Do you cover Bachelor's Bump?

We do. Tell us the venue or postcode and we’ll confirm availability.

For planners, venues and organisers

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so it’s worth asking first. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

A hog roast or other catering?

Some couples have a formal meal and a hog roast in the evening; others have the hog roast as the main event. When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What you get with us

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

What comes off the roaster

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, a hot, filling option of their own.

Allergies and dietary needs

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card

We serve and clear without fuss, and leave you to celebrate.

Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Distance from us
  • How many people are eating
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

What we need to know

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • An estimate of numbers
  • The date and time of the event
  • What the outdoor space is like

A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so it’s easy to compare like for like. Send us your details through our quote form.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
