How to compare hog roast caterers

How our wedding hog roast works in Bodicote

Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat isn’t available. We are often asked to cater the main wedding meal and garden weddings at home, with crackling, halloumi skewers and rotisserie chicken.

Weddings in a place like Bodicote frequently feel personal: a local church, then a marquee in a garden or field. We roast outside, well clear of the marquee. Tell us about access to the field or garden. We bring plates as standard, and china crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

What happens on the day

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up where we have agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Evening food at a Bodicote wedding frequently goes out just as the light fades: sunset is around 9:00pm in late May, 9:30pm at midsummer and 7:10pm in late September. A few lights by the serving table help guests and photos alike.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

How to prepare

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Bodicote

Is Bodicote close to London?

Roughly 64 miles from the centre of London.

What’s the nearest station to Bodicote?

Banbury station, about 1.5 miles north of the centre.

How much room do you need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. We can serve inside the marquee if the supplier agrees.

How do you work out quantities?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so a good estimate matters. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.

Can you work around our timings?

Within reason, we can. Give us a contact on the day and we will adjust.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

How much will it be?

Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Allergies and dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Note which guests don’t eat pork, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card

We will be at the venue for most of the day, out of the way, by the cooking area.

Choose sides to make it a full meal.

Organising for someone else?

For workplace bookings, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.

Prices and what affects them

We work out each quote from:

  • Whether you want china
  • Access to the cooking area
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

Details that help

When you enquire, please mention:

  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Your date and serving time
  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Dietary requirements

Send us the date, the address or OX15 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We will confirm availability and send a price. Use our quote form.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

If your venue has an in-house caterer, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. There may be a fee. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Why us?

  • An itemised quote
  • Choices for people who don’t eat pork
  • Timed around your day

Before you choose a spot

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Flat ground outside the reception for the roaster
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • A serving area close to where guests eat

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before booking.
