Wedding hog roast in East Shalford, slow-roasted on site
As a main meal, the hog roast is served on plates: roast pork, crackling and a choice of sides, on china if you’d like. For home weddings and relaxed, low-key weddings, we’ll put together a menu of salads, new potatoes and spit-roast lamb and more.
Near East Shalford, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. You’ll know what’s included before you book: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

A hog roast or other catering?
A common mix is a plated meal followed by an evening hog roast; others make the hog roast the main meal. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.
Why us?
- The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

Before you choose a spot
The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:
- A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee
- Permission for outside catering
- Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for East Shalford
Do you come out to small places like East Shalford?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.
Can you cater after a service at Church of St Thomas?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.
Do we need our own staff?
We carve and serve for you, then clear the serving area afterwards.
What if it rains?
Rain does not stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.
Do we need to provide electricity?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.
Do you come to East Shalford?
Yes. We cater across London and the South East, East Shalford and the rest of Surrey included. Tell us the venue and we will quote.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.
How soon do you get booked up?
The earlier the better for popular dates. But it’s always worth asking: use our quote form.
Allergies and dietary needs
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:
- Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
- Give your coordinator the final menu
- If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
- Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten
We will liaise with your venue coordinator, for access and timings.
For a sit-down meal, ask for china, quoted separately.
Should I cook it myself?
If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
The process
A typical booking goes like this: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and we carve and serve at the agreed time. Evening food at a East Shalford wedding often goes out just as the light fades: about 9:20pm at midsummer, 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.
- Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
- We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
- We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
- The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
- We serve, tidy up and slip away.
Before we arrive
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
- Name a contact for the day
- Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat

Planning help
The menu, dish by dish
Roast pork
Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, and served hot.
Rotisserie chicken
Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, turned until the skin is golden.
Prices and what affects them
Each price is built from:
- Site access
- Time on site
- Travel to East Shalford
- Season and day of the week
A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.
