A hog roast near Hackney Central
How our wedding hog roast works in Hackney Central
Not every guest eats pork, so we plan for that: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers and a vegan option. Halal meat isn’t available. Typical bookings include farm weddings and anniversary vow renewals, with spit-roast lamb, carved roast pork and new potatoes.
Couples in Hackney Central frequently hold the reception at a local venue or at home. We need an outdoor cooking area clear of the venue, so check with the venue early. The hog is roasted on site at your wedding, slowly, over several hours, and carved only when you are ready to eat.

Planners, venues and businesses
If you’re a venue or event planner, we are happy to work alongside your team.
Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
Common questions in Hackney Central
What’s the nearest station to Hackney Central?
Hackney Central has its own station: London Fields station.
Can you cater after a service at Church of St Michael and All Angels?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.
Is mains power needed?
The roaster runs on gas, so we do not need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.
How much does a hog roast cost?
It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.
Is there a non-pork option?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t provide halal meat.
How do we prepare?
Only the space and a contact number. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.
Do you leave the area tidy?
Our staff clear up after service, and leave the area tidy.
Can we just hire the roaster?
We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. We will explain the details with your quote.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet
If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. The main driver is numbers: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, since much of the cost is fixed.

How it works
Serving is straightforward: the chef carves and the team serves, with the sides served alongside. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. At midsummer, sunset in Hackney Central is about 9:20pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:50pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

Prices and what affects them
Here’s what affects the price:
- The date and time of year
- Menu choices and extras
- Crockery choices
- The journey to the venue
Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.
What to tell us
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:
- Any venue rules
- What the outdoor space is like
- The date and time of the event
- Dietary requirements
Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many people, plus when you’d like to eat. We will confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.
Should I cook it myself?
You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
