Wedding hog roast near Holyport

For the wedding breakfast, a hog roast becomes a plated meal: carved pork with salads, new potatoes or roast potatoes, with china available on request. Whether it’s barn and farm weddings and the day after the wedding, we will put together a menu of carved roast pork, new potatoes and rotisserie chicken.

Rural weddings around Holyport have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. Your quote spells out what’s included: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

Planning for dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten
  • Note which guests do not eat pork, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

Give us your venue coordinator’s details, so we can sort the cooking spot and timings with them.

Lamb alongside the pork gives guests a choice.

Working with your venue

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

How the day works

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. For a summer wedding in Holyport, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

Planning help

Holyport: your questions answered

Could you cook in Ockwells Park?

Only if the landowner, typically the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Which station is closest to Holyport?

The closest is Maidenhead station, roughly 1.8 miles away.

Can you roast in the rain?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Each event is priced on its own, based on numbers, menu, service time and distance. Ask us for a quote.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

DIY machine hire is available. We will confirm what comes with it and how to use it.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is usually fine if the venue is happy.

How do we prepare?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • Travel to Holyport
  • Plates or china
  • How easy it is to reach the spot

Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

What we need to know

To check the date and the space, we will need:

  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Rough numbers
  • Your menu choices
  • What the outdoor space is like

To get a quote, just tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

How to compare hog roast caterers

Catered or do it yourself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and generally costs less per head. It still feels special. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why book with us

  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • No surprises: everything in writing
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it

Read our prices page and our hog roast cost guide.

Planning the cooking spot

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • Step-free access for our equipment
  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests
  • Space well clear of tents and trees

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
