Slow-roasted pork in Ryde
Wedding hog roast near Ryde
After hours of dancing, guests are hungry. Hog roast rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling do exactly that, and they’re easy to eat with a drink in hand. We serve spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken and new potatoes, and we are frequently booked for home weddings and marquee weddings.
In a town like Ryde, a ceremony and then a marquee or hall reception is a classic combination. That’s ideal for a hog roast: the roaster cooks outside while guests celebrate. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

Catered or do it yourself?
You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.
What else we do in Ryde
How it works
Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Evening food at a Ryde wedding often goes out just as the light fades: sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:10pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

Planning for dietary needs
Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:
- Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
- Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten
- Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
- Give your coordinator the final menu
For evening food, we carve as the dancing gets going, timed with you in advance.
Some couples add lights around the serving area.
A hog roast compared with other options
If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.
What you get with us
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- Sides to make it a full meal
- Fresh carving at the serving station
- Our staff serve and clear

Your questions about a hog roast for your wedding in Ryde
What’s the nearest station to Ryde?
Ryde St Johns Road station, in Ryde itself.
Can you cater after a service at All Saints' Church?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Send us the address.
Who serves?
No need for your own staff: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.
Can you cater for vegetarians?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat is not something we offer.
Can you roast in the rain?
The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.
Will there be enough to go round?
We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will confirm everything in writing.
Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?
Many couples do exactly that, with lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside.
Can you do gluten-free?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You will get allergen details for everything.

What we serve, dish by dish
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
For vegetarians, halloumi and vegetable skewers are cooked separately from the meat, so they get something hot and satisfying too.
Stuffing and apple sauce
Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll.
Before you choose a spot
We need room to cook safely and under cover. Things to check:
- A level spot near, but not too near, the marquee
- Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed
- Light near the carving station after dark
Ryde is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.
If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.
