Wedding hog roast near St Ann's

The carving station becomes a focal point: guests gather, the chef carves and the crackling disappears fast. It’s food and a bit of theatre. For small, informal weddings and weddings in a family garden, we will put together a menu of crackling, new potatoes and rotisserie chicken for your guests.

Couples in St Ann's often hold the reception at a local venue or at home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, which many London venues can’t offer, so ask early. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, and carved only when you’re ready to eat.

Step by step

We get there well ahead of service, since slow roasting cannot be rushed. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. For a summer wedding in St Ann's, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Tell us whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. We carve and serve, then clear away.

Why choose a hog roast in St Ann's?

If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

Why us?

  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

Spit-roast lamb

Lamb roasted on the spit is a lovely alternative to pork, especially for guests who don’t eat pork.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us

We are on site for much of the day, working quietly in the background.

Some couples add lights around the serving area.

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs the right spot, because it cooks outside for several hours, so a few things are worth checking:

  • Lighting for evening service
  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • Step-free access for our equipment

As a London location, St Ann's is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

What’s the price?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.

Can we hire the machine and cook it ourselves?

Yes, we hire out the hog roast machine. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
