Wedding hog roast for Tourner Bury

How our wedding hog roast works in Tourner Bury

A wedding hog roast can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. The hog roasts slowly at your venue through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue. For the day after the wedding and weddings in a marquee, we’ll put together a menu of halloumi skewers, rotisserie chicken and new potatoes and more.

Rural weddings around Tourner Bury have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Planning for dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Remember that stuffing typically contains gluten
  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice

For evening food, we carve as the dancing gets going.

Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.

Full catering or machine hire?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Why choose a hog roast in Tourner Bury?

Next to a wedding barbecue, a hog roast feeds everyone at once from one roast. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • Cooked on the day, low and slow
  • Sides to make it a full meal

What we serve, dish by dish

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Choose from salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes, depending on the season and the occasion.

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and there is a piece for everyone who wants it.

What a hog roast costs

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • The journey to the venue
  • Time on site
  • Numbers

For larger numbers, a hog roast is normally good value, because one whole roast feeds a lot of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

What we need to know

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Any venue rules
  • Dietary requirements
  • An estimate of numbers

Planning ahead? Popular dates fill up early, especially summer Saturdays and December Fridays. Tell us your date and we’ll check it: use our quote form.

What the cooking area needs

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests
  • Space well clear of tents and trees
  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

If you are booking for a workplace, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Step by step

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. In Tourner Bury, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, which means an evening hog roast is typically served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 4:00pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Name a contact for the day
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
