Wedding hog roast near Wandsworth

The carving station becomes a focal point: people gather round as the chef carves. It is food and a bit of theatre. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, spit-roast lamb and halloumi skewers, and we’re often booked for garden weddings at home and barn and farm weddings.

London weddings around Wandsworth often mean a reception at a hired venue, a pub with a garden or a family home. The roaster needs an outdoor spot under cover, away from the building, so check with the venue early. We plan the timings around your day, because the roast has to start hours before you eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

About the food

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken off the rotisserie, carved or jointed can be served in a roll or on a plate.

How to compare hog roast caterers

How it works

Your timings come first. If things run late, a cooked roast can be kept hot for a while, so tell us as soon as plans change. Winter weddings in Wandsworth are dark by about 3:55pm, so the route from the reception to the hog roast needs lighting, while a June wedding has light until about 9:20pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and which meal you’d like.
  2. We check the venue and the cooking spot and send a price.
  3. We fit our timings around your running order and the venue.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we tidy our area and leave you to the party.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Common questions in Wandsworth

Could you cook in King George's Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Wandsworth?

Often, if there is a rear gate, a front garden or a yard we can use. Tell us about steps, gates and parking and we will advise.

Will guests be full?

Quantities are based on your guest list, and we will confirm it in writing.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Where will the roaster go at our wedding?

We cook outside, never inside the marquee.

Can you do our evening wedding food?

Of course. We’ll time it around your first dance and band.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Ask for gluten-free rolls and we’ll bring them. You will get allergen details for everything.

What comes with the hog roast?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Space, access and the venue

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
  • A way in for the roaster
  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests

As a London location, Wandsworth is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

For planners, venues and organisers

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For venues and planners, we’re happy to work alongside your team.

What affects the price in Wandsworth

Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Menu choices and extras
  • The journey to the venue
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Details that help

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Roughly how many people
  • The date and time of the event
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • What the outdoor space is like

Every quote lists the menu, the serving time, staff and plates, so it’s easy to compare like for like. Fill in our quote form.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a three-course plated meal, a hog roast wedding breakfast is relaxed and typically costs less per head. It still feels special. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why us?
