What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Time on site
  • Plates or china
  • Numbers
  • Distance from us

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Your menu choices
  • The venue or postcode
  • Allergies we should know about

To get a quote, just tell us the date, where the wedding is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.

Allergies and dietary needs

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Count non-pork eaters, for lamb, chicken or a vegetarian choice
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen list

We’re on site for much of the day, out of the way, by the cooking area.

Gluten-free rolls can be provided for the evening food.

What happens on the day

Slow roasting is the whole point: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin crisps into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. At midsummer, sunset in Wootton is about 9:30pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 9:00pm, and in late September about 7:10pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast feeds everyone at once from one roast without batches coming off a grill. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, which is why each one gets its own quote.

Why book with us

  • The classics: stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • A clear quote with everything listed
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Sides to make it a full meal

Read our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

Full catering or machine hire?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
