How our corporate hog roast works in Bury

Open days and family fun days need food that copes with a crowd. A hog roast does exactly that, with our staff serving and clearing. We serve crackling, halloumi skewers and salads, and we’re regularly asked to cater long-service celebrations and launch days.

Rural businesses around Bury can be a long way from anywhere to buy lunch, so a hog roast lunch is welcome. You will know what’s included before booking: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates, with no surprises on the day.

About 46 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you provide china?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Where on site can you cook?

Wherever your facilities team agrees, outdoors and under cover.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Ask us for a quote.

Can it be more formal?

With china and sides, it works well for clients.

Before you choose a spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what we look for:

  • Approval from facilities for gas equipment
  • Somewhere to park our vehicle
  • Somewhere for staff to eat if it rains

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Keep alternatives clearly labelled
  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately if needed

Name someone in facilities or reception for the day.

Add sides for a bigger lunch.

Organising for someone else?

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

Is a hog roast right for your staff event?

Next to taking the team out, a hog roast keeps everyone on site and saves travel. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, along with distance and how easy the site is. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

What you get with us

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

What affects the price in Bury

Your quote depends on:

  • How many people are eating
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • Access to the cooking area
  • The serving time and how long we are on site

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and the cooking area, tell us:

  • Roughly how many people
  • The address or postcode
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

Step by step

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. For a staff lunch in Bury, daylight is not an issue, but a winter evening event is dark by about 4:00pm, so plan lighting for later events. A summer after-work event has daylight until about 9:20pm.

  1. Start with the date, site and numbers.
  2. We sort access and send a quote.
  3. We arrive and set up under cover.
  4. We carve and serve quickly.
  5. We leave the site clean.

Before we arrive

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
