How our corporate hog roast works in Wapping

Staff days in Wapping work well with a hog roast: rolls are fast to serve and easy to eat. Chicken, lamb and vegetarian options cover everyone else. Whether it is staff summer days and family fun days, we can cook coleslaw, hog roast rolls and rotisserie chicken and more.

Around Wapping, workplace bookings tend to use car parks, yards and courtyards. Facilities teams normally need to approve gas equipment and access. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

FAQs for Wapping

Can you do a hog roast in William Curtis Ecological Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first.

Which station is closest to Wapping?

Wapping has its own station: Wapping station.

Can you do a hog roast for a client event?

It can be dressed up, with plates or china.

How do we prepare?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We will bring the rest.

How soon do you get booked up?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. For other dates, a few weeks can be enough. Send your date and we will check.

Where on site can you cook?

Most car parks and yards are fine, given level ground and clearance.

What’s included?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Can you work to our lunch time?

Yes. We time the roast to be ready and serve quickly. Rolls are the fastest way to serve.

For event organisers in Wapping

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We will fit in with site rules.

The menu, dish by dish

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Rolls make a hog roast easy to eat anywhere. We can bring gluten-free rolls if you ask.

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.

Before you choose a spot

Before the day, it helps to think about where the roaster will go. We look for:

  • Space away from buildings, vehicles and trees
  • A contact on site
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area

As a London location, Wapping is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

Looking after everyone

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To help:

  • Put the allergen list where people can see it
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Request gluten-free rolls

Name someone in facilities or reception for the day.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

What happens on the day

The secret is time: hours of gentle heat make the pork soft and juicy while the skin turns into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. For a staff lunch in Wapping, daylight isn’t an issue, but a winter evening event is dark by about 3:55pm, so evening events need a lit cooking area. A summer after-work event has daylight until about 9:20pm.

  1. Contact us with the basics.
  2. We check with facilities and quote.
  3. We roast on site.
  4. We carve and serve quickly.
  5. We clear up afterwards.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
