What comes off the roaster
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: grilled halloumi with vegetables.
Crackling
Good crackling needs time and heat, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.
Allergies and dietary needs
A little planning helps everyone eat safely. Here are a few tips:
- Collect crew dietary needs from the call sheet
- Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
- Tell us who doesn’t eat pork
- Halal is not offered
We pack away straight after service.
Add salads and potatoes for a full lunch.
A hog roast or other catering?
Next to grilling to order, carving is quicker for big numbers. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.
Why book with us

Step by step
On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. Because the roast starts early, and winter daylight in Braishfield ends around 4:00pm, so we may set up under lights.
- The production office sends us the location, dates, numbers and lunch time.
- We check the route and send a price.
- We agree where we set up and when we arrive.
- We carve to order the moment lunch is called.
- Afterwards we clear our spot at base.
Getting ready for the day
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
- Name a contact for the day

What affects the price in Braishfield
Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- Menu choices and extras
- The journey to the venue
- The serving time and how long we’re on site
- Whether you want china
Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Working with your venue
Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.
Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

What should we sort out beforehand?
A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We’ll bring the rest.
