A hog roast compared with other options
At the end of a shoot, a hog roast feels like a reward. When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
Why book with us
- Serving and clearing done for you
- Choices for people who do not eat pork
- A clear quote with everything listed
- Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

The process
People love watching the carving: the hog is carved in front of your crew, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Because the roast starts early, and in December Whitechapel is dark by about 3:55pm, so we may set up under lights.
- You send the location, date and lunch call.
- We check access to base and quote.
- We agree our position at base with the location manager.
- We roast through the morning and carve fast when lunch is called.
- Afterwards we clear our spot at base.
Getting ready for the day
- Measure the narrowest gate or passage
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Send final numbers in good time

What the cooking area needs
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:
- Away from vehicles and equipment
- A contact in production
- Vehicle access to base
As a London location, Whitechapel is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What a hog roast costs
We do not use a fixed price list, because every shoot is different. The main factors are:
- Which meats and sides you choose
- How many people are eating
- Time on site
- Plates or china
Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
What to tell us
Good details mean a good quote. Please include:
- Your date and serving time
- The address or postcode
- Roughly how many people
- Anything the venue has asked for
Busy weekends book up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Send us your date for a quote: send us your details through our quote form.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
Some crew won’t eat pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:
- Tell us about vegetarians and vegans
- Request gluten-free rolls
- Collect crew dietary needs from the call sheet
- Stuffing generally contains gluten
We serve quickly on the call.
Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Organising for someone else?

- Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
- Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
- Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
- Staff to serve at the agreed time, then clear away
